Summer days are of course, all about being outdoors and nothing says Great British Summertime like a sizzling BBQ, the clink of G&T glasses and the perpetual threat of a torrential downpour…

So, in celebration of National BBQ Week, which is taking place from 4th – 10th July, we’re getting our sunglasses and skewers at the ready and preparing some fabulous cocktail recipes to impress your guests.

May we present your cocktail menu…

The ultimate Caorunn BBQ cocktails

These stand out serves can be made in batches in advance of the big event. Just multiply the ingredients’ measurements (other than soda water and ice) by your number of guests and store in a reusable bottle. When serving, just add the batched cocktail base with ice and soda water to a highball glass and serve!

Highland Herbal Highball

Fresh Raspberry Clover Club

Don’t want to carry the soda water? The Caorunn White Negroni can be made in advance and stored in a bottle, then just add ice on the day to serve (and an apple garnish, naturally).

World Chocolate Day – 7th July

Gin and chocolate really is a ‘thing’. So, to celebrate World Chocolate Day 2022, we’ve teamed up with Braemar Chocolate Shop, our neighbours in the Cairngorms, to give you the chance to win a bottle of Caorunn Blood Orange Gin and 2 bars of their new Blood Orange Gin Bar (which has just hit the shelves). Head to Caorunn’s social channels for more information and for your chance to enter.

Our friends at Braemar Chocolate Shop hand-make all of their chocolate in their tiny shop, inspired by the beautiful landscapes which surround them. Braemar are dedicated to producing the highest quality chocolate whilst celebrating Scottish food and drink and so obviously we were obsessed straight away.

We carefully pair selected chocolate from all over the world with classic flavours, then add a unique Scottish twist with the wonderful food and ingredients on our doorstep.”

Braemar Chocolate Shop

Braemar’s Speyside Blood Orange Gin Bar uses 41% Milk chocolate, with a luxurious Caorunn Blood Orange Gin and orange ganache throughout the bar (we really think it’s a masterpiece). If you don’t want to take your chances in our competition, Braemar’s Speyside Blood Orange Gin Bar has landed on their online store today and is available to buy here.

You can also buy Braemar’s Speyside Raspberry Bar, a Dark Chocolate alternative with a beautiful ruby chocolate ganache and a touch of a certain Scottish Raspberry Gin you might recognise. Visit our online shop to pair your chocolate bar with a bottle of Caorunn for the full experience.

The botanicals we use in Caorunn Gin Master’s Cut also make it an ideal partner for a square, bar or slab of dark chocolate (we’re not judging). Because the fresh, ultra-crisp, floral, citrusy, delicately spicy and aromatic flavour the gin is a unique in itself so you don’t want a pairing which is either going to overpower or diminish that; you’re looking for a complement to keep all those flavours intact.  Milk and white chocolate are a little too delicate, so go for something with a higher cocoa content – we suggest 70% or above for an other worldly mouth melt.

Find Caorunn Gin Master’s Cut in World Duty Free stores on the way back from your summer escape.

Let us entertain you!

If you’re taking a trip to Scotland this summer (Edinburgh International Festival is just days away folks…) or you live here but fancy sipping your gin in a location with a spectacular backdrop, please do come and see us at the home of Caorunn at Balmenach Distillery.

We’d be beyond delighted to share the magic of Caorunn with you, show you our surroundings and thrill you with all our gin making secrets.  We can’t promise sunshine, but we’ll give you the very warmest of welcomes, a new level of gin knowledge and a G&T you’ll never forget.

Find out more about where we are and how to book your distillery tour.

Wishing you the very best of summers – cheers to you!
